Richard Jewell

5 Stars!!!!!

This is the story of Richard Jewell: the security officer that spots the suspicious package at the 1996 Olympics and alerts police 13 minutes before it explodes. The movie took us into the life of this man after he commits this heroic, life saving act. It's amazing how fickle the media can be. One minute, your the best thing since apple pie and the next you're the Joker. This is really how it goes. We see it all the time with our favorite sports teams. When the team is winning, the media paints a beautiful portrait of their talent, BUT the minute they lose a game, its all about what they can't do right. The problem in Richard Jewell's situation is that we're dealing with a human life, human reputation, and human dignity. The media and FBI frenzy cause Richard and his mom's life so much hell. You feel bad for the guy, because he is innocently cooperating with the FBI in an effort to solve the crime. It is sad that he is accused. They eventually clear his name and he is able to move on with his life, but it was never the same. This movie gives a lot of information into the life of Richard Jewell. I had no idea that he passed away in 2007, but we learn that at the end of the film. Apparently, the film has caused a lot of controversy with some of the real media behind the scenes, but tough luck for them. This is another Clint Eastwood masterpiece, people. Go out and see it.

I remember this. Sadly, I don't remember the media reporting when he was cleared. I'm sure it received some mention. So sad.
